Writing an analysis of a song is a lot like writing an essay about a poem. The biggest difference is that the music can affect how a song is interpreted. To analyze a song, first listen and then read the lyrics closely. Consider the song's context before you write your paper.
To look at a score while listening to it is a basic, fundamental need for any musician or student. I think of Youtube as a great platform in which I can upload these scores from the pieces I want to analyze, and then add the time marks of that video in my analysis when a new section, theme or phrase begins -or anything else of my interest, too.
